The Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized two industry-oriented sessions in association with the Centre for Industry-Academia Collaborations. The first session was organized on 10th September by Shri T M Naidu, Former Project Director- Aeronautical Development Agency, DRDO. His team was responsible for design, development, testing and airworthiness clearance of the entire structure of Tejas aircraft. The second session was organized on 25th September by Mr Ashok K Singh, General Manager, Jindal Power Limited, Tamnar on "Power Plant Boiler Maintenance and Safety". Both the sessions were attended by 120+ participants from students and industry fraternity.
OP Jindal University, Raigarh has successfully conducted the Digital International Conference on “Role of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management for Sustainable Development (RIEMSD-2020)” during September 26-27, 2020. The Inaugural function was graced by Shri Mohammad Akbar, Minister of Transport, Housing, & Environment, Forest & Law, Government of Chhattisgarh, along with the guest of honors Dr. Rajat Moona, Director Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai, Dr. Himanshu Rai, Director, Indian Institute of Management, Indore, Dr. Bharat Bhasker, Director, Indian Institute of Management, Raipur, Mr. Bimlendra Jha, Founder, Igniting Minds Guru and advisor to the Chairman, Jindal Steel and Power limited.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has started an Alumni talk series. The first speaker in this series was Mr. Ashish Khairkar, Module Lead- Persistent Systems Private Limited, Nagpur, Batch 2013 on 19th September. He mentioned the different career paths for Mechanical Engineers in the field of Artificial intelligence and how they can be easily picked by software and Automation industries. OP Jindal University, Raigarh Congratulates Dr Siddharth S Chakrabarti for being invited and delivering a lecture on “An approach towards Sustainable Cooling of Solar Panels”, September 17, 2020. The lecture was part of 5 Days Online ATAL Faculty Development Program on “Green Technology and Sustainability Engineering” during September 14-18, 2020, organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur. The session was attended by 120+ approved participants; most of them are faculty of different institutes across the country, and a few are students and industrialists.
The industrial course on Introduction to Stainless Steel in collaboration with Jindal stainless Ltd. was initiated in the year 2018. The Course is a part of the B Tech 7th semester curriculum of Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering. Unlike the previous year’s this year the course is designed for 40 lectures (per week 3 lectures) and will be online. Eminent faculty from IITs and Experts from JSL will deliver the lectures. The course commenced on September 2, 2020 and is going on.

The Department of Metallurgical Engineering Congratulates three faculties of the department (Dr. M. Less than 10% of the students who applied were able to make a cut to the final selection. Mr Ashish has also got an opportunity as Executive intern- Community operations at Bitgrit Inc. Further, ten mechanical Engineering students have been selected at Houseitt internship with stipend upto 20,000 and 18 students have got internship opportunity at Eleation, Pune in CAD/CAE solutions.

University team Solaric has cleared all the evaluation rounds of India's largest SAE India Efficycle 2020 Season 11 Competition (https://www.effi.saenis.org/). The rounds included a number of different documents related to the Vehicle design, Project plan containing the details of all the steps completed in the manufacturing of the vehicle.
