To mark the 74th anniversary of India’s Independence on 15th August 2020, OP Jindal University, Riagarh celebrated Independence day to re-experience the spirit of patriotism and to honour the glorious past of our nation. The celebration began with the arrival of Hon’ble Vice chancellor Dr R.D. Patidar, Mr. Anurag Vijawargi(Registrar), Dr. Prasant Bokare(Dean, SOE) Dr.Shesadev Nayak(Astt.Dean ,SOM) Dr G.C.Mishra(Astt.Dean SOS). The Vice Chancellor was escorted by the security personnel to the venue following which he unfurled the National flag.
Three Days e-Faculty Development Programme (FDP) cum Training Workshop on “ Climate Change And Disaster Risk Reduction “ was organized jointly by – School of Science, O P Jindal University Raigarh with National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi from 18th August to 20th August, 2020. The Executive Director, NIDM, New Delhi – Major General Manoj Kumar Bindal along with other prominent faculty members of NIDM New Delhi namely Prof. Anil K Gupta, Professor & Head EDCRM Division and Shri Ashish K Panda, Faculty, ECDRM Division and Ms Shilky, Young Professional had participated in the programme. On behalf of OPJU - Dr R D Patidar, Vice Chancellor, Prof Anurag Vijayawargia, Registrar, Dr Girish C Mishra Asst. Dean & Professor and Head of Department of Physics, other senior faculty members of School of Science of the University attended the Programme.
An online e-Faculty Development Program (e-FDP) On “Emerging Trends in Power Electronics and Power System (ETPEPS-2020)” has been conducted by the Department of Electrical Engineering O P Jindal University Raigarh, CG, from 24th August to 29th August 2020. The objective of the e-FDP was to disseminate the knowledge in the field of Power Electronics and Power System on the recent research areas by eminent experts across the globe.
Centre for Corporate Education and Training (CCET) successfully completed one and half-day corporate training on ‘Communication Skills’ for the employees of Jindal Steel & Power Limited Raigarh on August 21-22, 2020. Dr. Sanjay Singh delivered an expert talk on how to convey and understand information quickly and accurately with good verbal and written communication skills. Dr. Sanjay Singh enlightens that being able to communicate effectively is a vital life skill and should not be overlooked. The session was extremely informative, and the class size of 50 employees participated in the training session and there was an overwhelming response from the employees.
Completed one- day Corporate training on ‘Negotiation Skills’ for the employees of Jindal Steel & Power Limited Raigarh on August 8, 2020. The program is an insight into how to build rapport and convince others during negotiation. Dr. Shesadev Nayak delivered an expert lecture to strengthen & improve the negotiation skills of JSPL employees at a par extent. This training program is exclusively designed & developed for Purchase & Contract Cell employees who deal with the external vendors. The session was extremely informative and JSPL employees illustrated the importance of this topic for their preparation.
OPJU Congratulates the Department of Metallurgical Engineering for conducting a Webinar on Prospects and Opportunities for Women in Metallurgy and Materials in association with JSPL Foundation on August 28, 2020. The panelists of the webinar were from Academia, R&D and Industries (USA, UK, Australia and India), Dr. Ashok Srivastava from OPJU was the facilitator and Dr. Vatsala Chaturvedi from OPJU was the moderator of the event. Around 162 participants attended the webinar from India as well as abroad.

Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with the Centre for Industry-Academia Collaboration (CIAC) organized an interesting session on "Future workforce" by Mr. Sanjay Chandel, Senior Vice President & Head HR- Sterling India on 29th August. The takeaway from the session is the need for continuous learning, growth through new experiences, and gaining the ideas for the foundation of a new workforce. Over 350+ participants registered for the webinar and attended by 157 participants from industries, student fraternity, faculty members, and other interested ones.
OPJU congratulates Mr. Kanha Kumar Tiwari, a seventh-semester student of Mechanical Engineering for clearing the INDIAN AIR FORCE exam, medical and physical of Group'Y' (non tech) and his Phase 1 training has started from 18th August at Belagavi Karnataka. During his studies in OPJU, he has also completed three years NCC 'C' Certificate from 3 CG Air squadron Raipur and got an opportunity for sortie flying on microlight aircraft and virus aircraft with wing Commanders.
