OPJU partners with CII, Center of Excellence conference on Welding Technology, Mumbai
Indian Institute of Metal Student Chapter Inaugurated at OPJU

Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) released a White Paper on ‘Weld 4.0: Intelligentized Welding in India’, during its 2nd Conference on Welding Technology-2017, held in Mumbai on November 29, 2017. The white paper was prepared by OP Jindal University as knowledge partner of the conference. OPJU Vice Chancellor Dr Prabhu Aggarwal was guest of honor during the inaugural session and delivered an overview of the white paper. You can download a copy of the paper

OPJU launched Indian Institute of Metal (IIM) student chapter on November 25, 2017. Mr Pankaj Gautam, the Chairperson, IIM Raigarh Chapter and Executive Director (Projects and Operations), Jindal Steel and Power Limited, Raigarh inaugurated the Student Chapter at OPJU on November 25, 2017. IIM is a global premier organization with more than 60 years of history and has been established with a mission for promotion and advancement in the study, practices and research in Metallurgical Science and Technology. Addressing the august audience, Mr Pankaj Gautam, highlighted the demand of metallurgy in steel and power industries and also appreciated the contribution of metallurgical engineers towards Make in India.

DESIGN PATENT GRANTED TO OPJU STUDENT BY GOVT. OF INDIA
MICROSOFT AND OPJU TEAM UP TO OFFER A WEEK-LONG WORKSHOP ON CLOUD COMPUTING

Mr Siddanth Jain, 7th semester, B Tech Mechanical Engineering, has designed a “SWITCH WITH SOCKET” to optimism space, material and cost. His design has been granted the patent for 10 years by the patent office Kolkata, India vide registration number 289914.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering organized a week-long Workshop in association with Microsoft Technology, Kolkata on Cloud Computing from 9th October to 13th October 2017 at OPJU campus.

OPJU AND KARO SAMBHAV COLLABORATE TO BUILD A SUSTAINABLE ELECTRONIC WASTE DISPOSAL SOLUTION FOR CHHATTISGARH
OPJU IN ASSOCIATION WITH AIMA CONDUCTS CHANKAYA – THE BUSINESS SIMULATION GAME FOR SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT STUDENTS CAREER SERVICES ACTIVITIES: UPDATE ON CAMPUS PLACEMENTS, SUMMER INTERNSHIPS, AND OTHER INITIATIVES

OPJU has partnered with Karo Sambhav; a collective producer responsibility organization engaged in developing and implementing responsible electronic waste (e-waste) management solutions across India for its member producers. OPJU with Karo Sambhav University programme aims at creating awareness on critical environmental issues e.g. Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment, engaging students on preventive environmental strategies like circular economy, and inspiring them to take actions in their daily lives.

School of Management, O P Jindal University, in association with All India Management Association (AIMA) has organized a 2-day intensive Business Decision Game, Chanakya on2nd and 3rd Nov'2017 at Jindal Center JSPL, Raigarh. MBA students were involved in solving problems posed to them. Mr S.K Gupta and Mr Kamal Singh from Center for Management Development, AIMA, Delhi had come to conduct the game. It was a wonderful experience for the students as they played the role of CEO, COO, CMO and CFO to take decisions with respect to the various aspects of their business and got a sense of the impact of such decision making on the bottom-line of their companies.

THREE STUDENTS OF OPJU WIN THE PRESTIGIOUS OPJEMS SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2017-18 ACADEMIC YEAR

The School of Management, OPJU had organized an outbound Adventure Trip for MBA & BBA students to Rishikesh (Uttarakhand) from 5th to 11th Nov 2017. Students stayed at Camps near River Ganga. Various management games were conducted for the students by specialized trainers and the students also enjoyed various types of adventurous activities like cliff jumping, rappelling and river rafting. They had a great learning experience and buld critical team building and collaboration skills.

Three students from the School of Engineering, Pragya Pandey, 3rd Year Electrical, Amir Sohail Khan, 4th year Mechanical, and Nikhil Madaan, 2nd year Metallurgy are the proud recepients of the OPJEMS scholarship for the 2017-18 academic year. OPJEMS scholarship is an initiative of the O.P Jindal Group to recognize and support approximately 100 students from the premier engineering and management institutions of the country.

RECENT CAMPUS DRIVES AT OPJU
FACULTY RESEARCH INITIATIVES

Recently Appealsoft, Genpact, Jainsoftware, All Tech Building Systems Ltd, Just Dial and Indian Seamless Metal Tubes conducted campus drives and offered jobs to 20+ students with highest package of Rs 4.6 lacs per Annum. Other companies slated to visit are Fornius Pune, Focus Academy, HDFC Bank in the month of January.

OPJU faculty have published 15 research papers in peer reviewed international Journals in the last quarter. The total peer reviewed international publications of the university since 2015 has reached now 50. The publication, h-index of one of the faculty, Dr. Ashok K Srivastava has reached 11 with more than 325 citations. One sponsored project has been sanctioned by the Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CGCOST). 3 Plenary, 2 keynote and 8 papers have delivered by OPJU faculty in International/National Conferences. Apart from these 4 workshops and 3 STTPs have been organized by the university. In addition, faculty at OPJU collaborate in the research projects consulting with various researchers across the industry/institutes.

OPJU has been busy last quarter with the faculty hiring process. The following faculty joined us during 2017.
Mr. Nitin Upadhyay, Assistant Professor in Computer Science Engineering Department. He has completed his M Tech in Software System from BITS Pilani Rajsthan.
Dr. Suresh Kumar Sahoo Associate Professor in School of Management. He holds a PhD in Commerce from Berhampur University Odisha.
Dr. Pallavi Pandey, Assistant Professor in School of Management. She holds a PhD in Management from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Dr. Aparna Choudhary has joined OPJU, Assistant Professor in School of Management. She holds a PhD in Supply Chain Management from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Patra, Assistant Professor in School of Management. He holds a PhD in Management from Centurian University Bhubneshwar.
Dr. Sushree Diptimayee Swain, Assistant Professor in Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department. She holds a PhD in Power Quality Improvement from NIT Rourkela. We welcome them to the OPJU Family.
