Department of Biotechnology

Overview

The Department of Biotechnology offers comprehensive academic programs aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) to nurture innovation, research, and industry readiness in the field of life sciences. It offers a 4-year B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biotechnology under the NEP framework, designed to provide a multidisciplinary foundation in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, bioinformatics, and biochemistry, while also encouraging research through project-based learning and internships. The flexible NEP curriculum supports multiple entry and exit options and emphasizes skill development, critical thinking, and employability.

In addition, the department offers a 2-year M.Sc. in Industrial Biotechnology (From 2025), focusing on the application of biotechnology in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biofuels, food processing, and environmental management. This postgraduate program integrates advanced theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience in bioprocessing, enzyme technology, genetic engineering, and industrial microbiology, preparing students for careers in R&D, production, quality control, and further research.

With state-of-the-art laboratories, experienced faculty, and active industry-academic collaborations, the department is committed to fostering scientific inquiry and innovation. Microbiology, Biochemistry & Environment Lab

Microbiology, Biochemistry & Environment Lab, Used for the isolation identification & characterization of microorganism. Also their interaction with the environment. Helps in to find out new microorganisms or their activity against/for environment; to control/enhance their activity.

Bio-instrumentation Lab

Biointrumentation lab,  Consist Instruments like PCR, UV – Vis Spectrophotometer, Bioreactor, Cooling centrifuge,Probe Sonicator, PAGE, ELECTROPHORESIS, Gel DOCUMENTATION etc. used for Biological analysis of DNA, RNA, Protein and cells. Also used for the mapping of Protein, DNA & RNA.

Microbiology, Biochemistry & Environment Lab
