MAJOR SOCIAL ACTIVITIES


Social Empowerment is the most important requirement for the upliftment and progress of our nation. The Centre for Social Empowerment works with an aim to empower rural and needy communities within campus as well as in the society. It has been organizing varied academic and social activities for the upliftment of society. Some major activities are listed below-

Health & Nutrition Visit to Netraheen Bal Vidya Mandir, Amlidih The members of Centre for Social Empowerment OPJU and faculty members visited NETRAHEEN BAL VIDYA MANDIR, AMLIDIH (Adopted village) on 2nd July 2024. They interacted with the patron and kids of the school and donated Grocery items. The patron of the school Mr Pradhan thanked Dr Rakesh Nayak, Dr G. C. Mishra, Dr S. K. Singh, Dr Surendra Dwivedi and Mr Sunil for their co-operation and support. The donated items will help to fulfil the basic health needs of all students and teachers (No. of beneficiary-20). 2. Education Career Counselling and Books Distribution at Swami Atmananda Hr. Sec. School, Chharratangar Centre for Social Empowerment, OPJU in association with NSS, OPJU organised a CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION at Swami Atmananda Higher Secondary School, Chharratangar (Adopted village) on 3rd July 2024 for the students of class-12th. The faculty members distributed books (EVERYDAY VOCABULARY) to all the participants. The principal of the school Mr V. P. Sidar expressed his gratitude to Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr R. D. Patidar, Mr Bhimsen Sahu, Mr Minz, Dr G. C. Mishra, Dr S. K. Singh, Dr Surendra Dwivedi and Mr Sunil Mishra for their kind support and co-operation. 4. Health & Nutrition Workshop on Women's Health and Hygiene' at OPJU RED RIBBON CLUB and CENTRE FOR SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT, OPJU organized a 'Workshop on Women's Health and Hygiene' for the women of adopted villages at OPJU campus 5th July 2024. The resource persons- Dr Saumya Singh, Dr Dipti Shukla and Prof. Sanjana Dewangan conducted the Workshop and suggested the participants to maintain Personal Hygiene to keep themselves healthy. The workshop will help the participants to maintain their personal hygiene. OPJU, Raigarh
5. Education Career Counselling and Books Distribution at Govt. High School, Samaruma Centre for Social Empowerment, OPJU in association with NSS, OPJU organised a CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION at GOVT. HIGH SCHOOL, SAMARUMA ( Adopted village) for the students of class-9th and 10th on 8th July 2024. It was very interactive session; and on behalf of NSS faculty members distributed EVERYDAY VOCABULARY book to all the participants. The principal of the school Mr S. 6. Education Speech Competition on ‘ME AND MY DREAMS’ CENTRE FOR SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT, OPJU in association with NSS, OPJU organised a SPEECH COMPETITION on "ME AND MY DREAMS" during 8-9 July 2024. The students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the programme. Prizes were given away to the winners and deserving participants. Dr S. K. Singh thanked all the participants for their enthusiastic participation and co-operation. The competition improved Speaking Skill and boosted the confidence of the participants. OPJU, Raigarh
7. Education International yoga day was celebrated at OPJU on 21st June 2024. The employees and staff members of OPJU enthusiastically participated in the Yoga Session and learnt about the objectives and benefits of Yoga in daily life. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of OPJU Dr R. D. Patidar also participated in the session and motivated the employees to practice Yoga daily for a healthy life. Ms. Jyoti Sahu, Sports Officer, OPJU, Raigarh conducted the session as the Resource Person. She also talked about the Yoga, its impact and benefits. No. of participants-21. The participants learnt about the benefits of Yoga in daily life.
8. Education Essay Writing Competition on the World Population DayOn the occasion of World Population Day (11 July 2024), RED RIBBON CLUB, OPJU organised an Essay Writing Competition in Hindi and English both, on THE POPULATION OF INDIA: BOON OR BANE for the students of OPJU. The prizes were given away to the winners by Dr Siddharth Chakrabarty, Dean-SoE and Dr Dipti Shukla. The competition helped students to improve their writing skill. OPJU, Raigarh
9. Education QUIZ ON INDIAN CONSTITUTIONNSS AND CENTRE FOR SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT, OPJU organised a QUIZ ON INDIAN CONSTITUTION to create awareness about the Constitution of India on 18 July 2024 at OPJU. The students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the event. The prizes were given away to the winners. The event created awareness among the students about Indian Constitution. OPJU, Raigarh
10. Education Books distribution at Govt. Pre-Middle School, TumidihThe faculty members of Centre for Social Empowerment, OPJU visited Govt Pre-middle School, Tumidih (Adopted village) on 18th July 2024 and interacted with the teachers and students. On behalf of NSS, OPJU they distributed books (Everyday Vocabulary) and Ball Pens to all the students of Class-8th. Mr S. K. Jogi (Teacher of the school) thanked Prof. Bhupendra Tripathi, Dr G.C. 11. Education ‘VAN MAHOTSAV’ Celebration at OPJUNSS AND CENTRE FOR SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT, OPJU organised "VAN MAHOTSAV- एक वृक्ष मां के नाम" programme at OPJU on 25th July 2024 and distributed Saplings with flower pots to faculty members of the University. This initiative towards GREEN EARTH was appreciated by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Sir and all the faculty members. Dr S. K. Singh and Dr Vikas Kumar thanked Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr R. D. Patidar Sir for his continuous motivation and support. They also expressed their heartfelt thanks to Dr Siddharth Chakrabarty, Dr G. C. Mishra, Dr Saumya Singh, Dr J. P. 1. Education Centre for Social Empowerment, OPJU organised a "Report Presentation Competition" for the students of B.Sc. (H) in Biotechnology. All the students participated enthusiastically and won the prizes. Ms Khushi Mishra, Ms Antara Mukherjee, Ms Khushi Singh, Mr Ayush, Ms Yogita and Ms Rajkumari won the prizes. The volunteers along with the faculty members interacted with the kids and created awareness about Cleanliness and Hygiene (Swachchhata Abhiyaan). The student volunteers distributed sweets, water bottles, chocolates to the kids and donated ration to the school. The students along with faculty membersvisited classrooms and promoted Voter Literacy among the students. 6 Health E-waste Collectionand Clean Campus Drive at OPJUNSS AND CENTRE FOR SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT, OPJU in associationwith Department of Mechanical Engineering organised e-WASTE COLLECTION andCLEAN CAMPUS DRIVE at OPJU. The volunteers collected the e-waste and preparedthe list to hand over to the e-waste collection agency. The volunteers alsocleaned inside and outside of the OPJU campus. Dr S. K. 3. Health & Education A ONE-DAY PROGRAMMEon CLEANLINESS and CYBER SECURITY at Village-Punjipathra
NSS, OPJU and CENTREFOR SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT, OPJU in association with the Department of MechanicalEngineering, OPJU organised A ONE DAY PROGRAMME on CLEANLINESS and CYBERSECURITY at Village-Punjipathra on 7th March 2024. The volunteersconducted door to door campaign and created awareness about Cleanliness andhow to be safe from Cyber-crimes, etc. The programme was organised underguidance of Dr S. K. Singh, PO-NSS, Dr S. Chakrabarty (Dean-SoE), Dr JiteshSingh (Assistant Prof.-ME).
4. Health Workshop on WOMEN'S HEALTH AND HYGIENE
On the occasion of Women's Day, NSS AND CENTRE FORSOCIAL EMPOWERMENT, OPJU organised a Workshop on WOMEN'S HEALTH AND HYGIENEfor the women of adopted villages 8th March 2024. Dr Saumya Singh(Sr. Associate Professor) conducted the session and distributed Sanitarynapkins and sweets to all the participants. Ms Debasmita Das and Ms KiranRathore helped Dr Saumya Singh in conduction of the workshop.
5. Education Career GuidanceSeminar at Govt. Pre-Middle School, Gerwani
The Department ofCivil Engineering, OPJU in association with NSS, OPJU organised a CareerGuidance Seminar at Govt. Pre-Middle School, Gerwani on 12th March2024. The student volunteers with Prof. Vinod Nagpure, Mr Pranab Behara andother staff members visited the school and conducted Career Guidance Seminarfor all the students.

Prof.- School of Science)extended their kind support for smooth conduction of the programme.
2. Health & Nutrition The students of Computer Science andEngineering, OPJU in association with JSP Foundation and NSS organised aWorkshop on WOMEN'S HEALTH AND HYGIENE for the girls of Govt High School andGovt. Middle School, Samaruma on 1st Feb 2024. Mrs Princy Diwanand the volunteers conducted the session and distributed Sanitary napkins,etc. to all the participants.
3. Education Thestudents of Computer Science and Engineering, OPJU in association with JSPFoundation and NSS organised a Training Programme on DIGITAL SKILLSDEVELOPMENT for the students of Govt. High School and Govt MiddleSchool, Samaruma on 1st Feb 2024. Prof. Princy Diwan and thevolunteers conducted the sessions and gave hands-on training to all theparticipants. 4. Health The CENTRE FOR SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT, OPJU in association withJSP Foundation and Jindal-Fortis Hospital organised a BLOOD DONATION DRIVE atHEALTH CENTRE, OPJU on 2nd Feb 2024. The kind hearted peopledonated blood and 37 Units collected.
The drive was conducted under guidance of Dr R. D. Patidar (Vice Chancellor,OPJU), Prof. Anurag Vijayawargiya (Registrar, OPJU), Dr S. Das, Dr G. C.Mishra, Dr Pati, Mr Anjanee Singh and the officials of Jindal FortisHospital. Mr Hrishikesh Shastri, Mr B.D. Malakar, Ms Sanidhea, Ms ShraddhaSahu, Mr Chirag, Dr Surendra Dwivedi, Mr Siddhant Chaturvedi, Mr Pranab, MrKrishna and all volunteers extended their kind support and co-operation inorganising the event.
5. Education The students of Computer Science and Engineering, OPJU inassociation with JSP Foundation and NSS conducted DIGITAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENTtraining programme at Govt. Pre- Middle School, Tumidih on 15thFeb 2024. The volunteers conducted the sessions on Digital Skills Developmentand imparted hands-on training to the students of class-6th, 7th and 8th.
6. Health & Nutrition The students of Computer Science and Engineering, OPJU inassociation with JSP Foundation and NSS conducted a Workshop on WOMEN'SHEALTH AND HYGIENE and sports activities at Govt. Pre-Middle School, Tumidih, Raigarh on 15th Feb 2024.The volunteers conducted the session and discussed with the participantsabout their personal health and hygiene; and motivated them to keepthemselves clean for good health. The volunteers conducted the programme under guidance of Prof. Princy Diwanand Ms Astha.
7. Health & Nutrition The students of Computer Science and Engineering, and NSSvolunteers, OPJU visited NETRAHIN BAL VIDYA MANDIR, Amlidih (Adopted village)on 21st Feb 2024. The volunteers interacted with the students,discussed various issues and donated a 20-litre water camper to the school.
8. Health & Nutrition A Health Check-up Programme at Govt. Higher SecondarySchool, Chharratangar (Adopted village) was organised by CENTRE FOR SOCIALEMPOWERMENT, OPJU in association with JSP Foundation and OPJH, Tamnar on 22ndFeb 2024.
Health Check- up of 250+ Students (class-9th, 10th, 11th & 12th) was doneby eminent Doctors- Dr Harish Gautam and Dr Priya Rai. The Blood Group identification of 217students was also done by the OPJH, Tamnar team. The programme wasinaugurated by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, OPJU Dr R. D. Patidar in the presenceof Dr Harish Gautam, Dr Priya Rai, School officials and Organising Teammembers. Dr Kavita Patel, Sr. Assistant Professor, School of Science, OPJUco-ordinated the programme successfully.
9. Health & Nutrition The members of NSS and Centre for Social Empowerment, OPJUvisited NETRAHIN BAL VIDYA MANDIR, Amlidih on 26th Feb 2024. Themembers in association with JSP Foundation donated Grocery items to theschool.

1. Health & Nutrition NSS ANDCENTRE FOR SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT, OPJU in association with JSP Foundationorganised a Workshop on WOMEN'S HEALTH AND HYGIENE for the girls of Govt. Pre-MiddleSchool, Tumidih on 2nd January 2024. Ms Deeksha Gupta guided theparticipants regarding personal HEALTH and Hygiene and distributed Sanitarynapkins, etc. The participants learnt about theirpersonal health & Hygiene and how to use sanitary napkins.

2. Education NSS AND CENTRE FOR SOCIALEMPOWERMENT, OPJU organised an Expert Talk Session on Role of Teachers andInnovation in Making of India a VIKSIT BHARAT @2047 on 12thJanuary 2024. Dr S. Nayak deliveredthe expert talk. Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr R. D. Patidar, Dr S. Nayak, Dr S.Das, Dr Vikas Kumar, Dr Saumya Singh and all the faculty members were presentduring the talk. At the end of the session Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr R. D.Patidar presented a Memento to the resource person. The participants learnt about theirrole and duties in making India a Viksit Bharat@2047.

The name of the winners are- Mr AyushAgrawal, MBA-OPJU (First Position), Ms Lavanya, B. Tech, BIT, Durg (SecondPosition), Mr Nirmalya Kumar Patra & Mr Vivek Bhagat (Third Position). Health, Nutrition & Education RED RIBBON CLUB, OPJU in association with JSP Foundation organiseda Workshop on WOMEN'S HEALTH AND HYGIENE for the women of Punjipathra atOPJU, Punjipathra on 25th January 2024. Dr Dipti Shukla, Dr KavitaPatel and Ms Suchismita Panda conducted the session and discussed about thepersonal hygiene. The sanitary napkins were distributed to all theparticipants. The participants learnt about theirpersonal health & Hygiene and how to use sanitary napkins.
