Diploma (Mining Engineering)

Overview

The Diploma in Mining Engineering is a three-year technical program designed to prepare students for operational and supervisory roles in the mining industry. The program focuses on the practical and applied aspects of mining, including mine surveying, drilling and blasting, mine ventilation, mineral processing, safety management, and environmental sustainability.

Students develop hands-on skills through lab work, field training, and site visits, gaining the competencies needed to support mining operations efficiently and safely. The curriculum also includes foundational engineering sciences, mechanical and electrical systems used in mining, and mine legislation.

The program emphasizes industry readiness through mandatory internships, exposure to mining software and equipment, and project work addressing real-life mining challenges. Graduates are equipped to work as mine supervisors, surveyors, safety officers, or technicians in both open-cast and underground mines, with the potential to advance into engineering roles through further study or experience.
