B. Tech (Mining Engineering)

Overview

The B.Tech in Mining Engineering is designed to develop skilled, industry-ready engineers with a strong foundation in modern mining practices, sustainability, and innovation. The program covers core areas such as mine planning, mine environment and ventilation, mineral processing, rock mechanics, mine machinery, and mine safety, while integrating knowledge from mechanical, civil, environmental, and computer engineering. Students gain hands-on experience through internships, industry visits, and laboratory work. Multidisciplinary learning is emphasized, preparing graduates for careers in mining, manufacturing, consulting, and energy sectors. The curriculum includes research opportunities and a final-year capstone project that addresses real-world challenges in mining and resource management. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge, practical training, and industry exposure, the program equips students with the technical and analytical skills needed for responsible and efficient resource extraction in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Eligibility

  • At least 50% marks in Class XII (Science Stream) and Valid JEE/ CGPET/ OPJU SAT score card

Admission Process

  • Apply (Online/Offline) for the programs at OPJU School of Engineering, School of Management, and School of Science.
  • Application should be accompanied by a non-refundable Application Fee of Rs. 1000 for Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate Programs, and Rs. 2000 for Doctoral Programs, payable via Internet Banking, Credit/Debit Card, DD, Bank Transfer, or UPI.
  • A merit list will be announced for eligible candidates for each round. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for counselling. Upon meeting the requisite conditions, eligibility, and successful document verification, a provisional admission offer letter will be issued. The candidate must deposit the fee within the stipulated date.
  • A One-Time Deposit (OTD) of Rs. 15,000 must be paid (all courses) within the time mentioned in the offer letter. This OTD will be adjusted towards the enrolment fee upon confirmation of admission. In case of admission cancellation by the student, the OTD is non-refundable.
  • If the candidate fails to pay the full fee by the stipulated date, the admission will be deemed cancelled and the seat will become available for the next round of counselling.
  • There will be three rounds of counselling. Any unfilled seats afterward will be filled through rolling counselling on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The University reserves the right to cancel admission at any stage of the process without prior notice if the student does not meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the program.
