The Center of Excellence (COE) in Welding Technology under the Centre for Steel Technology and Product Development (CSTPD), OP Jindal University, Raigarh. will impart training to Undergraduate, Post Graduate, Polytechnic and Vocational school students. With aim to meet industry requirements, bridging the industry academic gap and enhancing the competency levels of students for better employability. This center will be utilized for industrial output so that the trainees learn on actual jobs and work for future up gradation of technology. The Centre will also focus on Training and Research programs which will help in catering to the growing demand from Engineering and Manufacturing Industries in India. Avaneesh Jha a student of Computer Science Engineering 5th semester bagged the First Prize in a Networking Activity Event conducted by IEEE in the Student Membership Enhancement and Leadership Training (SMELT) 2020. SMELT Membership Enhancement 2020 session was virtually organized by IEEE Bombay Section SAC in association with IEEE Region 10 SAC. It was a one day session organized on three different dates for different geographical locations. For the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Subsection it was held on 29th September 2020. There were 2 rounds of the quiz and he got the highest points amongst all contenders. He received a cash prize of Rs. 1250 wherein results were declared in November.

Centre for Corporate Education and Training (CCET) and Department of Metallurgical Engineering, OP Jindal University, Raigarh successfully completed 12-days corporate training on ‘Basics of Iron and Steel’ for the newly recruited GETs of Jindal Steel & Power Limited Raigarh during October 07-20, 2020. In this training program, the CCET expert trainers Dr. A K Srivastava, Prof. Nandalal Acharjee, Dr.Trinath Talapaneni, Prof. Md. Izhar Hussain, Dr. Sibnath Kayal, Dr. M. Kalyan Phani, Dr. Vatsala Chaturvedi, Prof. Neeraj Verma and Dr. Mahesh Bhiwapurkar delivered their technical sessions. In this program, the expert trainers explore both fundamental and technical issues related to steels, including iron and steel making, microstructure and phase transformation, and their properties and applications. The session was extremely informative and was a perfect blend of both practical and theoretical aspects of steelmaking. Total 25 GETs have participated in the training session and there was an overwhelming response from the GETs.
Centre for Corporate Education and Training (CCET) successfully completed one- day corporate training on ‘Finance For Non-Finance’ for the GETs of Jindal Steel & Power Limited Raigarh on October 21, 2020. The program is an insight into how to be effective and result-oriented finance savvy The GETs are able to understand and present, drive, and measure business plans in terms of financial figures and communicate in a common ‘business language’ through financial figures. Dr. Shesadev Nayak delivered an expert lecture to strengthen & improve their financial skills at par extent. This training program is exclusively designed & developed for new GETs of JSPL. The session was extremely informative and JSPL GETs illustrated the importance of this topic for their preparation.

University team Solaric has cleared all the evaluation rounds of India's largest SAE India Efficycle 2020 Season 11 Competition (https://www.effi.saenis.org/). The rounds included a number of different documents related to the Vehicle design, Project plan containing the details of all the steps completed in the manufacturing of the vehicle. The first speaker in this series was Mr. Ashish Khairkar, Module Lead- Persistent Systems Private Limited, Nagpur, Batch 2013 on 1 of resources utilization where reduction, reuse and recycling of elements prevails. Subsequently he has presented some eye opening statistics regarding waste opportunities, environmental losses and economic losses in the economy which gives a strong signal for moving from a linear economy to a circular economy. This he has validated with a case study of Renault. His speech has also covered the execution of circular economy model for food, cities, pere-urban agriculture, education institutions to name a few. Dr. Samal gave a concluding remark on the session and emphasized on the joint effort of stakeholders, policy framework from the Government and partnership model for the effective use of circular economy model which would pave the way towards sustainability.
A webinar on "Re-inventing Applications of IoT Post Covid-19” was conducted for the students, academicians and industry people. This webinar was organized by Dr. Deepak Singh, Associate Professor of Department of Electrical Engineering, OP Jindal University, Raigarh on 28th May 2020. The guest expert for this webinar was Dr. Suraj Sharma, Assistant Professor, International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Dr. Deepak Singh has started the webinar by discussing the objective of the webinar, the impact of COVID-19 to society and the world economy. The discussion followed the fundamentals of the Internet of Things (IoT) and its different components. The objective of the webinar is to aware the audience about the possible end of Covid-19, scientifically. Dr Prashant Bokareapplied the data mining techniques in order to better understand the stability and the possibility of recovery from COVID-19 infections. His prediction might support policymakers and healthcare managers to plan and allocate healthcare resources accordingly. He also proposed the model which helps to interpret patterns of public sentiment on disseminating related health information, and assess political and economic influence of the spread of the virus. The webinar was highly appreciated by a number of participants.
A Webinar on the topic “Impact of Post Covid-19 On Industry 4.0” was organized on 16th May 2020 by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with Centre for Industry Academia OP Jindal University, Raigahr. MrSabyasach Biswas, Executive Director, IBM was one of the panelist. Around 250 participants attended the webinar. Prior to the Covid-19, Industry 4.0 was an area of great interest to many manufacturers across the globe. It was an exciting topic with huge potential benefits and was widely regarded as a “positive” and future thinking topic. COVID-19 has brought a lot of changes in the personal and professional lives of people. It has brought the economic activities across the globe to a still, and the focus for many manufacturers is survival first and foremost and beyond that damage limitation. In order to understand the impact of COVID-19 on Industry 4.0 and to provide answers for some challenging but pertinent questions related to adaption and relevance of Industry 4.0 the Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with Centre for Industry-Academia Collaboration of OP Jindal University, Raigarh organized a webinar on “Impact of post COVID-19 on Industry 4.0”-16th May,2020 and was attended by more than 120 participants. Participants were both from the field of academia and industry. Mr. Sabyasachi Biswas, Executive Director, IBM – Indore, was the invited as the key speaker. DrSidharth S Chakrabarti, Professor & Head- Department of Mechanical welcomed the speaker and discussed the importance of Industry 4.0 along with the key objectives behind organizing the webinar. Mr. Sabyasachi Biswas gave a detailed presentation and discussed the major changes that are going to occur in Post COVID-19 scenario. He said the Industry 4.0 will surely gain more importance and will accelerate like never before in the days to come. He said there will be a “new normal” for the enterprise and will involve virtual communications, access to real time data along with data driven decision making. He pressed upon the fact that the basic components of Industry 4.0 like IOT, 5G, blockchain technology, edge computing etc. will change in a very accelerated manner, like we will not only want the devices to be connected but also to intervene as the humans may not be available at the workplace due to this crisis. And, this will happen when the machines will not only just collect the data but will learn and apply. He said the Industry 4.0 pre-COVID only talked about the robotics when it came to automation but in post-COVID scenario they will have to be brought in especially in the medical sector and large scale industries. The biggest difference which will be observed in post-COVID scenario will be in the way in which Industry4.0 is adopted, earlier various industries were doing it in steps but now various companies have come up with business platforms ready for industries, so that it can be implemented at one go. Answering to the one of the questions related to adoption of Industry 4.0 in steel industry, he said that the key challenge for a steel industry is its scale and sourcing. Apart from this there is a geo-political shift post COVID-19 which is also going to affect it directly. He expressed his concern over the cyber security as it is the biggest risk involved with Industry 4.0. Answering to a question related to the skilled workforce requirement for adopting Industry 4.0 in India he said the young budding engineers should focus on the application part of technologies like, IoT, AI amd Machine learning etc. and the academic institutions should go for partnerships to promote research and innovation. At the end he congratulated and appreciated the efforts of the management of OP Jindal University for getting an approval to establish Atal Innovation Community Centre and fostering research and innovation. At the end, Prof Akashpandey, Assistant Professor, MED proposed vote of thanks to the panelists and participants for being part of fruitful and informative panel discussion.

Mr. Kulkarni covered all the industrial aspects of heat treatment processes in Steel Industries. A Webinar on the topic “Metallurgy of Rail Steels” was organized jointly by Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Centre for Corporate Education and Training (CCET) on May 10, 2020. The webinar talk was delivered by Dr. M. KalyanPhani, Associate Professor, Dept. of Metallurgical Engineering. During the webinar, the expert speaker has emphasized about the growth of railroad business in the next few years and also mentioned the importance of rail steels in the present scenario. He has introduced the metallurgy behind the rail steels, their types and the associated rail damages. He also discussed the metallurgical technology for high steel rail, which is the future for Indian Railway. Dr. Nayak started the session with what is happiness and moved on to deliberate how happy people think better, perform better, feel better, live longer and healthier, are better at solving problems and making right decisions. He emphasized the importance of living in the present without getting depressed, rehashing the past or becoming anxious about the future. He pointed out that the formula "success leads to happiness" is broken and it in fact, is the other way around. That is if you are happy with whatever you have, you are bound to become successful. With the mission to unleash the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship at the University, OPJU has applied to AIM, MHRD, Govt. of India to establish ATAL COMMUNITY INNOVATION CENTER (ACIC) under PPP model. OPJU has cleared the all selection rounds of Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), New Delhi for the establishment of ACIC with the project fund of Rs 500 Lacs under PPP model at its campus. ACIC project coordinators Prof. Pradeep S Chauhan, Asst. Prof Electrical Engg, and Prof. SaketJaswani, Asst Prof, School of Management have received communication from AIM that OPJU is the only university that is selected from the state of Chhattisgarh. Total 24 organisations have selected from all states of India. A letter for approval will be issued after the inspection visit at OPJU by the AIM committee in the coming month. Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC), a new initiative under Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), is directed to encourage the spirit of innovation through solution-driven design thinking to serve the society. It will focus on underserved/unserved regions of the country which at present lack a vibrant start-up and innovation ecosystem.
In view of nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19, OP Jindal University took initiative of On-Line Classes for the benefit of the students. Keeping the current difficult time in view and disruption of academic calendar On-Line class is being used to the optimum for effective –learning intervention. Additional support material like notes, presentation and work sheets are provided to the students through the University portal. The enthusiasm and excitement among the faculties is truly contagious. They are adopting and experiencing new tools redesign their pedagogy and rethink about engagement of the students. An internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon 2020 was conducted by the CSE department, in which students from various branches across OPJU participated presenting their innovative ideas and exhibited their technical skills. The Students of OPJU also represented the university at state level by presenting their ideas and gained exposure to various trends in the current market scenario.
Department of Computer Science Engineering OPJU conducted a certification course on MACHINE LEARNING by experts. Objective was to provide hands-on training to prepare students for Internships, projects and placement. The Certificate was awarded by O.P Jindal University in association with IEEE Student Branch. The Course duration was of 30-40 hrs. and students were get benefited from it.

JSW-DOLVI made a visit on 5thMarch 2020 for campus placement drive. In this campus drive 32 students from B.Tech. have beenparticipated out of them 8 were recruited. The drive started with a Pre-Placement talk later on fallowed with Written test, Group discussion and finally Personal round. Seven students from Mechanical branch and One from Metallurgy branch were recruited with initial package of Rs 6.00 Lacs per annum. After confirmation revised CTC will be of Rs 6.50 Lacs per annum. This year scholarship worth of Rupees 54.26 Lac distributed to 236 meritorious students in recognition of their academic excellence. The chief guest of Scholarship distribution ceremony was Mr.D. K. Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), Raighar made visit on 26th and 27th February 2020 for campus placement drive. In this campus drive 55 students from B.Tech & M.Tech. participated out of them 48 were recruited. The placement exercise began with a bang. Drive started with a Pre placement talk later on fallowed with Group Discussion, Technical session and finally Personal round. The Career Service Department (CSD), and all placement coordinators of various departments trained and guided the students, consequently our student nailed it. The outcome of JSPL, campus drive boosts the morale not only of recruited students, but also that of placement coordinators of various department. The company officials appreciated the University administration, faculties and students for their proper effort and dedication. The distinctiveness of this campus drive is that all the students were placed in Core sector with an initial package of 5.5 Lacs Per Annum Plus Retention Bonus 3 Lacs, which is predominant in the present scenario of technical education. OP Jindal University organized its 2nd Annual Cultural Fest – Junoon 2020 at OPJU Campus on 20th-21st February 2020. Junoon 2020 roped in famous Bollywood singer Jubin Nautiyal on the first day and performance of three most popular DJs of SUNBURN - OLLY ESSE, ACEAXE and SARTEK on the second day. More than 2500 people comprising of University and high school students along with parents and Jindal employees arrived at OPJU Campus to witness the 2-day musical extravaganza. Jubin Nautiyal in his scintillating performance of over 90 minutes kept the audience on their feet with his most popular and hit Bollywood chart busters. On Day 2nd International DJs entertained the audience with top remix and hip hop electronic music. Junoon, was organized in continuation of Annual Tech Fest - Technorollix in which students from different colleges & Universities participate every year. Junoon 2020 was also supported by prominent names in digital, print and radio media channels. Started in 2018, Junoon is the most awaited Cultural Fest in the region. Earlier versions of Junoon witnessed performance of major artists like YouTube Sensation Shirley Setia and famous Disc Jockey NYK.
The Annual Tech-Fest of O.P.Jindal University, Raigarh Technorollix, was held on 18th and 19th February 2020. This annual mega event is one of the largest techno-cultural fest in central India. It was an event every student of OPJU was looking forward to. It was segregated in two different activities namely- Technical event and Cultural event. Technorollix 2020 commenced on 18th February with an inauguration ceremony held at Playground of OPJU. Mr.D.K.Saraogi (Chief Operating officer JSPL, Raighar) is the Chief guest and Mr.Sunil Bajaj(Vice-President and Plant Head SSD, Punjipathara,Raighar) is the guest honour. Event was started with lamp lightining by Chief guest along with other dignitaries. Dr. R.D.Patidar (Vice-Chancellor, OPJU) welcomed the guests. Earlier the day on 18th February 2020 Mr Sanjay Madan (ED NTPC, Lara, Raighar) inaugurated TECH LAB : Model presentation. The Techlab showcases more than 100 technical models. Techlab has been a platform to spread the most recent development in the field of science and technology, in which participants from various colleges and university demonstrate their innovation in front of technical supremacy. This year twenty events were organized, which were open to all the students of the region. Most colourful part of Technorollix is in the form of cultural event such as Grand-E-Rollix and Aaghaaz the ethnic fashion show. Each academic department of the university had a separate set of events organized by the departmental level coordinator and student committees. In all events, winners were felicitated with medals and certificates. Student coordinators and volunteers were awarded with appreciation certificates. Technorollix 2k20 unforgettable imprints remain with us.

During Feb 2020, A team from 3rd Year Civil Engineering Department named as 'Be The Change' participated in the final round of national level competition Chhatra Viswakarma Award 2019 and presented their prepared prototype project “Comparative study of Biodiesel produced from waste cooking oil and petroleum diesel.” before the AICTE expert panel. This project was mentored by Dr Deepayan Priyadarshi Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering.
Mr. Ankala Saibaba, Chief Engineer, Indian Railway, delivered an expert lecture on 14th February, 2020 on “Challenges in design and construction of world’s tallest bridge”. Dr. R.D. Patidar, VC, OP Jindal University, was the chief guest for the inaugural session. Dr. Patidar addressed august gathering of participants and congratulate to Civil Engineering department for organizing such informative lecture talks. Dr P. S. Bokare, Dean, School of Engineering, motivated students to participate actively and enthusiastically to grab every chance of innovative learning. Campus placement drive of LiDO was organized on 15th February 2020 in which B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, BBA, M.Sc students participated. Six students were shortlisted, Ashutosh Patnayak (Civil 8th Sem) selected with CTC- 10 Lacs.

The Association of the Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) is a platform and voices of universities in Asia and the Pacific and around the world. AUAP is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), holding the highest formal consultative status with UNESCO. Its primary purpose is to be the main platform for interaction and collaboration between members, and to be the effective voice of universities in Asia and the Pacific region. AUAP organizes regular conferences and workshops for higher education leaders and institutions in the Asia-Pacific region to discuss important issues and the challenges facing higher education. The association promotes and helps enhance mutually beneficial cooperation among educational institutions, and is dedicated to render such services to its member institutions.
OPJU organized a one-day workshop on “Legal Awareness programme on outraging the modesty for women and Rape and Sexual assault” sponsored by National Commission of Women (NCW), New Delhi, on 18th January’20. The program was conducted to provide practical knowledge about the basic legal rights and remedies provided under various laws related to women, enabling them to face challenges in real-life situations, making men aware of women's rights and various justice delivery systems available for redressal of their problems / grievances. Participants took part in the discussion session and took advantage of the opportunity to calm their curiosities. About 150 participants from various educational institutions participated in the event.
The “Electric bike racing championship 2020” was organized from 13th – 16th January, 2020 at OP Jindal University, in association with AMT Motocorp. E-bike racing challenge is organized every year by AMT Motocorp across different Universities of India in order to provide a platform for the young engineering students. This time the event was organized at OPJU campus and students from 10 different Universities participated in EBRC, OPJU. The purpose of the event was to recognize the difficulty and problems involved in maintaining these rare and valuable machines and the ways to solve them. Students from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh & TamilNadu participated to showcase their talents.
OPJU is proud of Dr. Dwiwedi’s achievement. His thesis title was “Synthesis and Characterization of Al6061/Bio-mineralized Calcium Carbonate Metal Matrix Composite ".
