Event 1

Inauguration

Department of Mechanical Engineering, OP Jindal University, Raigarh in association with Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) and SAEINDIA inaugurated the OPJU-SAE collegiate Club through online mode on 10th June 2021.The inaugural session was bolstered by the presence of Mr. K Venkatraj, Deputy Director-General SAE- INDIA, Dr. Arun Sampath, Chief Engineer & Head Innovation & Global Technology Centre, Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited, Bengaluru, Dr.Vivek Kaundal, Specialist – Technical Education Global Engineering Academy, L&T Technology Services Limited, Mysore and Mr. Bhavesh Kumar, Director- Dassault System, Chennai. Under the Aegis of SAEINDIA (Society of Automotive Engineers, INDIA), Collegiate club provides practical exposure to a professional engineering society as well as focal point for campus engineering programs and projects. SAEINDIA Collegiate clubs offer student members, organize programs and activities, fellowship, and leadership experience. SAEINDIA student members are also entitled to many of the services available to SAEINDIA’s regular members. Presently, a total of 125 students have obtained the club membership.
The inauguration was followed by a talk on "Role of Simulation in Electromobility Innovation" by Mr. Bhavesh Kumar.
The sessions were attended by 100+ participants and SAE Collegiate Club members.

University team Solaric has successfully cleared all the evaluation rounds of India's largest SAE India Efficycle 2020 Season 11 Competition. The rounds included a number of different documents related to the Vehicle design, Project plan containing the details of all the steps completed in the manufacturing of the vehicle. The team has achieved the participation certificate.

SAE Collegiate Club initiated a project to develop Formula one racing car. Also conducted a session on “Formula one Aerodynamics”...... ,carried out by SAE Collegiate Club, conducted by Club member Mr Gyanesh Rao, M.Tech student- Mechanical.

The SAE OPJU Collegiate club in association with the Centre for Industry- Academia Collaboration on "How to be a Company Fit – A guide to discover the right career path" on 12th June 2021. The session was delivered by Mr. Venkatesh Neelam, Volvo Group Recruitment, Volvo Group India Private Limited, where he gave an insight to "How to discover the right career path? and how to attract potential employers?" He said information is at your fingertips but how you leverage and use it, decides the success you achieve in your life. The session was attended by 90+ participants..

An exploratory and wonderful session on "Digital Manufacturing" by Mr Krishna Prasad, Digital Manufacturing expert, Siemens Centre of Excellence, NIT Kurukshetra for Mechanical Engineering students was conducted on 10/08/2021. The speaker discussed about the new learning opportunities in the field of manufacturing by using Technomatix Plant simulation software. The session was attended by 80+ participants and organised by SAE Collegiate Club in association with Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Team Vidyut-OPJU in association with SAE-OPJU Collegiate Club and the Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a talk on 'Role of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning projects for placements' on 20th June 2021. The speaker of the session was OPJU alumni Mr. Raj Kapish Gupta, Assistant System Engineer, Tata Consultancy Services. The overall session focused on 'Role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning' in inter-discipline areas and especially on Automotive Technology.
The session was attended by 100+ participants from different departments of the School of Engineering.

Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with SAE-OPJU Collegiate Club, organised a session on "Design of Mechanical Systems Using CFD" on 11th July 2021. Dr. Satish Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Jamshedpur stressed the fact that CFD is becoming nowadays an important design and research tool in the field of mechanical engineering to test and improve the design of different mechanical systems. The session was attended by 80+ participants comprising of students and industry personnel.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with Institutional Innovation Council and SAE Collegiate Club, has organized a five-day training Program on " ANSYS-Hands on Workshop" from 4th to 10th May 2022. The students got an exposure to the new technology and capabilities of the software that can be utilized to support their innovations in Engineering and perform the simulations.

The Duo Guest speaker of NVIDIA Group, Mr Harshraj Rao and Mr Unnikrishnan provided an exposure to our students on Autonomous Vehicles and its future scope through an online webinar. The webinar was conducted under the SAEINDIA – OPJU Collegiate Club.

Department of Mechanical Engineering and SAEINDIA-OPJU COllegaite Club together congratulates the the Mechanical Engineering students on their selection for a leadership position as Office Bearers of the club.

Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with SAE-OPJU Collegiate Club, Team VIDYUT, and Skill Shark organized a session on “E-MOBILITY IN INDIA-Future of Sustainable Transportation” on 31st July 2021. The session was delivered by Mr. Ashhar Ahmed, Co- founder, and Director, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. The speaker discussed the automotive industry, the electric vehicle ecosystem, and different aspects of designing, manufacturing, simulation, electronics of electric vehicles. The talk was attended by 100+ participants and they gathered a crisp knowledge on E-Mobility.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with the Department of Civil Engineering and SAE OPJU Collegiate Club organised a one week online certificate course on “Basics of AUTOCAD” for the 5th and 6th semester students of Diploma Engineering from 12th-17th July 2021.

An interesting session on "Future trends in EV technologies" by Mr Brahmanand Reddy Patil, Vice President & Head- Central R&D, CREAT UNO MINDA Enterprise Pune, India held on 9th October, 2021.

Students proved the concept of Experiential learning-“learning by doing” and the journey started with Team "Solaric" representing the OP Jindal University in Electric Solar Vehicle Championship- 2019 & 2020 Now the "VIDYUT" TEAM has carried the torch ahead and has started their work for the fabrication of Formula Car and will be representing upcoming national events shortly... We wish all the success for the team members...

SAEINDIA-OPJU Collegiate Club in association with Institutional Innovation council (IIC@OPJU) organized a session on "Automotive Thermal System- Development and Challenges". Mr Vipin Jacob of Force Motors, Pune delivered on HVAC utilized in Automobiles.

Team VIDYUT – An Student led group working on Development of Formula 1 Racing car to compete at national level competition organized by SAE SUPRA. The team is working for the fabrication and also attended the workshop conducted by SAE Supra

SAEINDIA-OPJU Collegiate Club organized a webinar on "Recent Trends and Innovat ions in Automotive Industry ". Mr Sushant Kumar of TATA Technologies, showcased the utilization of recent ongoing technologies in Automotive sector.

The Centre of Excellence in Welding Technology (CoEWT) at OPJU in association with the SAE Collegiate Club, HRD Centre and Academic Staff College (ASC), OPJU, and Fronius India Private Limited, Pune jointly organized a Training Programme (Certificate Course) on “Advanced Welding Technology” from 6th to 10th December 2021. The training was attended by industry persons from esteemed organizations such as Jindal Power Limited, Steel structural division, OP Jindal Community College, JSW, and others.

The Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in association with SAE Club organized an online Expert Talk on "Electric Vehicle and the Way forward" in association with ISIE India on 04th October 2021. Mr Raunak Chaudhary, Senior EV Engineer, ISIE India discussed in detail the basics of Electric vehicles and stressed the fact that a huge opportunity waits ahead for the budding engineers in the field of electric vehicles. 45 participants attended the session.

Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with SAE Club organized an online one-day workshop on the “Design and Development of Robots” under the Workshop series of Technorollix 2K22 on 5th March 2022. The speaker of the workshop Mr Ajay Godara, Mentor of Change (NITI AYOG G.O.I), Innovator, Founder & CEO @Enovate Skill, Robotics, Automation, IIoT discussed in detail the simulation of robot design using AUTODESK TINKERCAD, Arduino programming, battery management, motor selection, chassis design and others. Around 125+ participants benefited from the workshop.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with Centre of Industry-Academia Collaboration and SAE Club organized an online Expert Talk on "Need of Digital manufacturing and its Future Prospects" in association with SIEMENS India on 26th October 2021. Mr Rohit Bhatia from Siemens India delivered the session. During the session, he primarily focused on the basics of digital manufacturing, its needs, advantages, the role of digital manufacturing in Industry 4.0, and job opportunities going forward.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, O. P. Jindal University, Raigarh organized a 7 Days Online Faculty Development Program on "ANSYS Mechanical and CFD" in association with Entuple Technologies Pvt. Ltd Bangalore from 22nd November 2021 to 29th November 2021 in association with SAE Club. Research scholars from the Department of Mechanical engineering also participated in the training program. The session witnessed a vibrant and dynamic exchange of knowledge and experience during the program.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing and Automation conducted a value-added training on “Metal Joining Technology: Simulator Hands-On Session” from 16th May 2022 to 20th May 2022. The course was attended by B.Tech first year students. This course provided the trainees with the necessary knowledge & skills required by B. Tech graduates to become competent welding engineers as per the need of the manufacturing and fabrication industries. It was an introductory course and 20 students attended the course. The course mainly included the basic introduction to metal joining technology, evaluation and selection of welding processes and rigorous practice on virtual welding simulator.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at OPJU believes in experiential learning and hence continuously provides opportunities to its students to showcase their talent in the National arena. Moving in the same line, this year also the student team "VIDYUT" as a part of the SAE Collegiate Club designed and fabricated their "Formula One Car" under the guidance of Faculties & Staff of Department of Mechanical Engineering and Centre of Excellence in manufacturing & Automation. They participated in the SAE- SUPRA Formula contest, organised between 22nd - 25th August 2022 at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida. OPJU was the only University from Chhattisgarh to participate in this event.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in Association with the Center of Industry-Academia Collaboration & IIC@OPJU organized an online session on “Autonomous Driving - Trends, Transformation, and Opportunities” on 6th Nov, 2022. Mr. Badari Kotejoshyer, Associate Vice President, KPIT Bengaluru was the speaker for the session, he gave an excellent insight into current trends, autonomous technology, and business transformation models. The speaker discussed the six levels of driving automation defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the way the automotive industry is undergoing transformation. He stressed on different aspects that will attract the attention of multiple disciplines to work on vehicle design & testing, algorithm development, software coding, integration and validation, system modelling.
